Google doodle pays tribute to Amrish Puri on 87th birthday


New Delhi: Google through its unique doodle paid tribute to the late veteran Amrish Puri on his 87th birthday.

The doodle has been sketched by Pune-based guest artist Debangshu Moulik where the artist portrayed the character of Baoji from his known film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) that features on an orange background.

The life and legacy of the renowned actor, born in Punjab on this day in 1932 is celebrated through the doodle.

Some of his most memorable roles are Mogambo in Mr. India, Chaudhry Baldev Singh – Simran’s (played by Kajol)  father – in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Thakur Durjan Singh in Karan Arjun, Mayor Ashraf Ali in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Chief Minister Balraj Chauhan in Nayak: The Real Hero, Bhisambar Nath in Ram Lakhan and many more. He was also cast as Mola Ram in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

Even as he passed away more than 15 years ago, on January 12, 2005, his roles have remained immortal.
