Malkangiri: A health team in Malkangiri district proved to be angels, as they not only provided service to a pregnant lady at her village but also carried her on a stretcher to the hospital.
The incident was reported from Godigandi village of the district.
As per reports, the medical team, that was in the village to supervise Pulse Polio programme found out about the expectant mother and went to give her a checkup. However, by then, the woman had developed labour pain.
The hospital was several kilometres away. The village is situated on the hilltop and bereft of a communication facility. Radheshyam Jena, a doctor in charge of the programme along with the team attended the woman at home.
Later, the team carried the woman on a stretcher up to 30 km from Godigandi to Kalimela hospital. The woman then gave birth to a dead child.
The health condition of the woman is stated to be stable, sources said.
