New Delhi: The high-level Group of Ministers (GoM) on Thursday reviewed the current status and action plan for the prevention and management of COVID-19.
The meeting was held at Nirman Bhawan here. It was chaired by Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare.
The meeting was attended by Hardeep S. Puri, Minister of Civil Aviation, Dr. S. Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs, Nityananda Rai, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare and Mansukh L. Mandaviya, Minister of State for Shipping, Chemicals, and Fertilizers. Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba was also present at the meeting.
Reports said the GoM had detailed deliberation on the prevention and management of COVID-19 in the country. The Group of Ministers reviewed the status of cases in India and the steps taken by the government of India.
The advisory has been issued on social distancing measures. Social distancing primarily implies avoiding or decreasing contact so as to stop or slow down the rate and extent of disease transmission.
The meeting urged the states to issue directions to the private sector to consider work from home wherever feasible.
The states must take measures to ensure all sporting events, competitions and religious gatherings postponed for required social distancing. Effective disinfection and crowd management be ensured in places like railway stations, metro stations, bus stands, and airports.
The states shall issue appropriate instructions wherein all citizens above 65 years except for public representatives/government servants/medical professionals to remain at home.
All children below 10 years of age should be advised to remain at home and avoid going to public parks, picnics and other games requiring a large number of participants.
