Ganjam: Police here on Sunday seized over 3 kilograms of gold and 150 kilograms of silver ornaments from a car while it was being illegally transported from Tamil Nadu to Berhampur in Ganjam district.
Besides, four persons have also been detained in this connection. All of them reportedly hailed from Tamil Nadu, said sources.
Acting on reliable inputs, a team from Golanthara police intercepted a car at Sorala junction and conducted a search. During the search, the cops found gold and silver ornaments.
Police investigation revealed that the seized huge amount of gold and silver was being smuggled from Tamil Nadu to Bada Bazaar in Berhampur.
Police have registered a case and further investigation into the incident is underway.
