Rourkela: The Central Excise and Custom officials seized gold biscuits weighing 13 kg from Mumbai-bound Jnaneswari Express between Rajgangpur and Jharsuguda today.
The Excise sleuths also detained two persons, hailing from Mumbai, in this connection.
Acting on reliable inputs, the officials conducted a raid on the moving train between Rajgangpur and Jharsuguda and seized gold biscuits worth around Rs 5 crore., sources said.
The train was en-route to Mumbai from Howrah. Reportedly, the accused passengers found the involved in smuggling the yellow metal have been taken into custody for further interrogation.
The officials have contacted Customs officials in Bhubaneswar for further investigation into the matter, he added.
