Going the extra mile for promotion of Odisha Hockey World Cup
Bhubaneswar: A team of three motor enthusiasts from Odisha are on a road trip to northern India to promote the upcoming Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2018 to be held at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar from November.
The crew comprising Subrat Kumar Das, who owns an advertising agency, Siba Prasad Das, an employee of the advertising agency, and Bibek Majhi, a state government employee, voluntarily come forward to promote the biggest sports extravaganza.
“We started our journey on October 10 from Bhubaneswar and visited Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi, Jaipur in Rajasthan and Golden Temple in Amritsar of Punjab before reaching Delhi. In Delhi, we visited India Gate and Red Fort and promoted the upcoming Hockey World Cup,” Subrat said.
“We are voluntarily promoting the Hockey World Cup. The idea to promote the game emerged during a discussion at a tea café named Cha Biscuit owned by me at Acharya Vihar where we bikers sit together. Later, we took out the road-trip,” Subrat added.
“Apart from taking the road-trip, we also have set up a kiosk near the tea café to promote the game. A replica of the hockey world cup trophy made of fibre has been installed there with the photograph of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and a teaser “Ab Bas Hockey,” Subrat went on to state.
“As the Men’s Hockey World Cup is going to be held in Bhubaneswar, we bikers want that the sports get maximum promotions. During our trip, we are displaying the banner of the upcoming Hockey World Cup in front of the national heritage and monuments to attract more people towards the game,” added Subrat.
So far the bikers have covered a distance of 4,995 km and need to cover more 1,200 km to reach Bhubaneswar. They are on their way back to the city and are eager to share bundles of experience they have gained during their journey.
