Cuttack: Immersion of idols of Goddess Durga will conclude at Debigada ghat of Kathajodi river in Cuttack city by today afternoon.
Reportedly, 106 idols out of a total of 162 have been immersed so far. Hence, the immersion of the remaining idols will be conducted by today afternoon.
Amid music and dance, the idols were taken in a procession for immersion.
The crowd in large numbers witnessed the immersion ceremony as the idols were ushered out of their pandals and taken to the immersion yard on specially designed tableaus. Fireworks, cultural progarmmes and light shows were the special attractions.
Meanwhile, Commissionerate Police have tightened the security arrangements in Cuttack as scores of locals have gathered to the spot to witness the immersion.
Artificial ponds were created in Odisha’s Cuttack for immersion of Durga idols. The ponds were created on the bank of Kathajodi River at Debigada Ghat. These ponds are created by the Cuttack Municipal Corporation. Artificial ponds will help in saving river from getting polluted.
