Cuttack: Yet another incident has put question mark on the safety of women after a girl student was allegedly molested on a moving train in Odisha.

The victim, a law student was travelling to Kharagpur from Cuttack railway station in Jan Shatabdi Express on March 25 when a middle-aged man tried to outrage her modesty by touching her inappropriately.

According to sources, the incident took place between Bhadrak and Balasore stations when the girl travelling in D-3 coach of the train was misbehaved by her co-passenger.

Shockingly, the victim alleged that the concerned train ticket examiner (TTE) did not take any action though the matter was brought to his notice.

Meanwhile, the victim’s family has appealed the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) for strict action against the TTE for taking the incident especially against a woman passenger lightly.

Similarly, a girl who was travelling from Bhubaneswar to Mumbai was harassed and misbehaved by a co-passenger who attempted to grope her in Konark Express in January this year.

The matter came to light after the girl lodged a complaint with the Mumbai police on Twitter. Later, the Thane Government Railway Police (GRP) had registered a case and started investigation into the incident.
