Borigumma: Police claimed to have cracked the mysterious death case of a young girl whose naked body was found dumped behind a bush in a cashew forest at Chiliguda in Borigumma of Koraput district on 2nd January. The family members of the deceased girl had brought rape and murder allegations.

Unravelling the mystery behind the girl’s death, Koraput SP Varun Guntupalli today revealed at a press conference that the girl died after being electrocuted in a live electric trap laid by her relatives to kill wild boars.

“The accused were identified as Bhubana Amanatya (34), Pabitra Bhatra (32), Bhubana Bhatra (30) and one juvenile (16),” the police official said, adding that the victim’s minor brother and her cousin brother are among four arrested so far and efforts are on to nab four others involved in the case.

“Investigation revealed that on 30th December, last year, at around 8 PM the accused persons laid an electric trap in the backside of Cashew Mill at Kaliaguda to kill wild boar. The victim Subhadra Amanatya (20), who had gone to meet her male friend at around 9.30 pm, noticed the accused persons coming out of the forest and rushed to the back of the mill to hide. However, she came in contact with the electric trap and died on the spot,” the senior police official said.

The accused persons found her body the next morning and in a bid to shield themselves they cooked up a story of rape and murder. To distract the police and mislead the investigation, they stripped off the clothes from the body and threw the body behind a bush in the cashew forest.

The girl’s body was found on 2nd January and the family members brought rape and murder allegation. Following this, the police formed an SIT and after probing the case from various angles, they rounded up the victim’s relatives and others.
