Gift parcel explosion: Groom got threat call before engagement


Bolangir: Investigating into the gift parcel explosion case in which software engineer Soumyasekhar Sahu, his grandmother and critically injured his newly-married wife Rimarani Sahu, the Patnagarh police have unearthed some new clues about the incident.

Police have ascertained that before few days of his engagement ceremony in March 2017, Soumyasekhar had received a threat from an unidentified caller which had warned him that he will face dire consequences if he goes ahead with his marriage plans with Rimarani.

Later, Soumyasekhar had informed about the threat call to his nephew Papu, who in turn had informed the other members of the family, said Soumyasekhar’s father Rabindra Kumar Sahu.

The police on Sunday questioned Papu for hours in connection with the threat call to unearth more clues.  Police said they suspect a failed one-sided love affair as the motive behind the gift parcel explosion incident.

Earlier, the police had detained two Boudh district residents in connection with the incident.
