Ganjam: Armed miscreants on Wednesday night made away with over 60 goats after holding a villager at knifepoint at Baragan under Jagannath Prasad police limits in Ganjam district.
According to sources, the incident occurred late last night while the villagers and locals were fast asleep when around 4-5 miscreants barged into the cattle shed of one Uday Gauda. However, Uday woke up to the sounds and when he intercepted the looters, they threatened him by brandishing gun and sharp weapons.
The misreants immediately packed the animals in a pickup van and sped away from the spot.
Hearing the screams of Uday, neighbours rushed to help. They traced the vehicles till a few metres and successfully intercepted an SUV.
Meanwhile, the miscreants managed to flee the spot in another vehicle.
Following this, a case was registered with Jagannathprasad police. Police also reached the spot and initiated a probe, sources said. Cops have seized the four-wheeler from the spot.
