Deogarh: Police have busted a ganja smuggling racket with the arrest of five persons from a tea stall at Karlaga village under Kundheigola in Deogarh district.
The arrested persons were identified as Arun Kumar Sahu (47), Rinun Behera (30), Binod Kumar Sahu (27), Tuna Pradhan (28), and Purusottam Sahu (31).
Following a tip-off about the ganja trade being run from the tea stall of accused Arun, a joint team of Deogarh and Kundheigola police conducted a search. During the search, police apprehended five persons while one Indramani Behera managed to escape from the spot.
Over 29 kgs of ganja has been seized from the spot. Besides, a Bolero, three motorcycles, Rs 30,000 in cash and other incriminating articles were also seized from the spot, the police said in a press note.
A case (10/20) under Sections 20 (b) (II) (C) & 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused persons, the police added.
