Malkangiri: Excise department officials destroyed ganja plantation worth Rs 4 crore during a raid in Malkangiri district on Thursday.
The raid was conducted at Baraput and Kamarguda village of Chitrakonda block in the district. The anti-drug operatives uprooted and destroyed several acres of fully-grown marijuana.
Acting on reliable inputs, a team led by Excise Superintendent Ashok Kumar conducted raids at the villages. During the operation, the illegal narcotic plantations were burned to the grounds.
The illegal cannabis plantation, estimated to worth around Rs 3 crore and 36 lakh, was uprooted and destroyed and a case registered in this connection, excise officials informed.
