New Delhi: After a single-day-halt in the increase of crude oil prices, petrol and diesel rates in Delhi have surged again on Monday.
Price of petrol increased to Rs 80.43 (increase by Re 0.05) and that of diesel increased to Rs 80.53 (increase by Re 0.13) in Delhi, a day after there was no change in the prices in the national capital.
Oil marketing companies have been adjusting retail rates in line with costs after an 82-day break from rate revision amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. These firms on June 7 restarted revising prices in line with costs.
Earlier on Sunday, the price hike froze at Rs 80.38 per litre for petrol and Rs 80.40 per litre for diesel, for the first time after 21 straight days since the oil companies resumed daily reviews following a 12-week hiatus due to coronavirus lockdown.
Rates have been going up across the country since June 7 but the retail prices vary from state to state, depending on the local sales tax and VAT.
