Frontline Warriors And Elderly In Odisha To Get Free COVID-19 Vaccine

Bhubaneswar: After a direction from the central government asking states to chalk out a Covid-19 vaccine distribution plan, the state government on Thursday decided that elderly persons and Corona Warriors including doctors & other frontline health workers will get COVID-19 vaccine free of cost.

This was informed by the State Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Das.

Talking to media persons, Das said “Doctors, health workers who are our Corona Warriors and elderly persons in Odisha will be administered COVID-19 vaccine free of cost. In the second phase, we have urged Centre to vaccinate Municipality and drinking water and other public health workers in the State.”

Das further stated that vaccination against coronavirus is likely to begin from January 2021.

Earlier, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced to give priority to senior citizens, who are the most vulnerable category, in the proposed vaccination drive against COVID-19.

Over 3.20 people will be vaccinated in the first phase in the State.
