Bhubaneswar: The Meteorological Department today forecast formation of another low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal on August 4 which will trigger rain for next three-four days.
“A fresh low pressure area is likely to form over Northeast Bay of Bengal around August 4,” the IMD said in a special bulletin.
The weather office said yesterday’s Cyclonic Circulation over North Odisha & adjoining areas of Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand moved west-northwestwards and under its influence a Low Pressure Area has formed over East Madhya Pradesh & adjoining Chhattisgarh.
“Associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 5.8 km above mean sea level, tilting southwards with height,” the weather office added.
Under the above scenario, only light to moderate rainfall activity likely over Odisha during next 3-4 days and thereafter increase in rainfall activity with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur in Odisha in subsequent 3-4 days, the IMD said.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of interior Odisha and at a few places over the districts of coastal Odisha on Wednesday.
Similarly, light to moderate rain or thundershower very is likely to occur at many places over the districts of south interior Odisha and at a few places over rest districts of Odisha on Thursday.
Besides, light to moderate rain or thundershower very is likely to occur at many places over the districts of interior Odisha and at a few places over the districts coastal Odisha.
Due to the strong monsoon, current sea condition is likely to be rough to very rough along the Odisha coast and adjoining sea areas. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea along and off Odisha coast during next 24 hours.
