Chhattisgarh: An Odia couple and their two minor children were brutally murdered by unidentified miscreants in Durg district of Chhattisgarh on Wednesday night, the police said today.
The victims, identified as Bholanath Yadav (34), his wife Naila (30), son Parmad (12) and Mukta (7), were found dead on Thursday morning in Kapsada village under Kumhari police station limit.
Reportedly, Chhattisgarh police have registered a case and sent the bodies for autopsy.
According to reports, the couple and their two minor children were brutally hacked to death with sharp-edged objects by miscreants over suspected past rivalry.
A blood-stained axe has been recovered from the crime scene and sent for forensic analysis. Besides, an almirah in the house was found open, Durg SP Abhishek Pallava told media persons.
Bholanath, a native of Sindhekela of Bangomunda block in Odisha’s Bolangir district, shifted to Kapsada village with his family a decade ago and had since then, been working on a vegetable farm. They were staying in a house built on the vegetable farm.
Though the exact motive behind the murder of the entire family is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that a property dispute might be the reason behind the brutal crime.
