Former Senior Clerk of Cuttack Revenue Board Convicted For Bribery, Gets 2-Yr RI

Cuttack: The Special Vigilance Court here on Thursday convicted, Renuka Devi, former senior clerk of the office of Inspector General of Registration (IGR), Cuttack to two years of rigorous imprisonment in a bribery case.

At present convict, Renuka Devi, is the Senior Assistant at the office of Inspector General of Registration (IGR), Board of Revenue, Odisha, Cuttack. She was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in Cuttack Vigilance P.S. Case No.42 dtd.27.06.2011 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demand and acceptance of illegal gratification (bribe) from the complainant for issuance of registration certificate for Private Hospital Association.

The Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack today convicted Renuka Devand sentenced her to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.10,000. In default of payment of the fine, the convict shall undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 6 months for the offence U/s 13(2) and 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, the court ruled.

“Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for the dismissal of Renuka Devi from service following her conviction. Satya Narayan Pattnayak, Ex-Inspector, Vigilance Cuttack Division investigated the case and Rakesh Sahu, Spl. P.P, Vigilance, Cuttack conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution, said the Vigilance Directorate in a press note.
