Former NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant Appointed Sherpa For G20 Summit

New Delhi: Former NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant has been appointed as the Sherpa for G-20 Summit. Kant will take over from Union Minister Piyush Goyal.

Goyal was appointed as India’s Sherpa for the G20 in September last year.

India has been a member of the G20 since its inception in 1999. The country will be hosting the G20 Summit from December 1, 2022 and will convene the G20 Leaders’ Summit in 2023 for the first time.

India is also be part of the G20 Troika – which is formed by the preceding, current, and incoming G20 Presidencies – ending November 30, 2024
