Cuttack: Former Chief Secretary of Odisha Lalat Indu Parija breathed his last at a private hospital in Cuttack on Monday. He was 89.
According to sources, Parija complained of chest pain on Saturday following which he was admitted to a private hospital in Cuttack. However, he succumbed this morning.
He was the Chief Secretary of Odisha twice- in 1983 (for one month) and in 1986 (for one year).
Lalat Indu, son of eminent scientist Dr. Pranakrushna Parija, was a world-renowned Botanist. He was best known as an active administrator, articulate speaker and prominent columnist.
Besides, he served as the captain of Odisha Ranji cricket team.
Lalat Indu was also conferred D.litt by Ravenshaw University for his intrinsic dexterity and proficiency in resolving acute administrative riddles.
