Subarnapur: Five family members were injured when their mud house collapsed due to heavy rainfall in Dahukbuda village, under the jurisdiction of Dunguripali police station in Subarnapur district, early on Thursday morning.
The injured include Sushil Pradhan, his wife Basturi, their daughter Ritika, their son Kris, and their 18-month-old son Arnab.
Sushil, a labourer, was supporting his family when their house gave way under the torrential rain, burying them in the rubble. Villagers, alerted by their cries for help, notified the fire department.
Responding to the alert, firefighters arrived promptly at the scene and extricated the trapped family. The victims were transported to Dunguripali Community Health Centre by ambulance, where they are currently being treated and are reported to be in stable condition.
Reports indicate that Sushil, who comes from an impoverished background, has not received a concrete house under the government housing scheme. There are now calls for immediate government aid for Sushil’s family.
