Five members of bike theft racket arrested in Odisha capital


Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough relating to numerous bike theft cases, Commissionerate police has busted a racket in connection with bike theft on Saturday and arrested 5 persons of the gang out of which two are juveniles.

Eleven bikes and six cell phones were seized by the police from their possession.

The accused were identified as Manas Samantray (28) of Nimapada in Puri district, SK Inam (18) of Dumduma, Biswaranjan Samal (19) and two juveniles including an Engineering student.

As per sources, the nabbed miscreants were allegedly involved in many bike theft and mobile phone snatching cases.

Reportedly, the gang was operating in Ghatikia, Dumduma and ITER college area under limits of Khandagiri Police.

However, three accused have been forwarded to court and the juveniles were produced before Juvenile Court, said a police official.

Khandagiri police is carrying further investigations to trace other members in connection with the racket.
