Five dead, 33 injured in separate road mishaps
Cuttack/ Rourkela: At least five persons died and 33 others sustained injuries in three separate road mishaps in the districts of Cuttack and Sundargarh on Thursday.
In the first incident, a car with five people in it rammed into a truck near Anantapur under Salepur block in Cuttack district. While three of them including a woman died on spot, four others sustained critical injuries and were rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital, where one more succumbed to the injuries.
The deceased were identified as Sher Ali, his wife Aliza Biwi, their son Sheikh Shiraz and his nephew.
Similarly, in another incident, a youth lost his life as his bike collided with a truck at Khuntuni in Cuttack district. The deceased Bipin Nayak was a resident of Gariya village.
In another mishap, at least 30 persons were injured as a bus turned turtle near Balanipata Chhak under Bonai police limits in Sundargarh district early this morning.
Reportedly, the vehicle was en route to Paradip from Rourkela when the front tyre of the bus burst at around 4 am following which the bus overturned.
On being informed, police and fire personnel reached the spot and rescued the injured passengers.
The injured were rushed to Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH), where the health condition of four victims is stated to be critical.
