Five Areas In Bhubaneswar Declared Containment Zones: BMC Commissioner
Bhubaneswar: Five areas in Bhubaneswar – Surya Nagar, Satya Nagar, Bomikhal, Sundarpada and Begunia-Jadupur – have been declared as containment zones.
Addressing presspersons here today, BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary said that total of 34 positive COVID-19 cases were detected in Bhubaneswar. He said: “The BJB Nagar has been sealed and the IB office under quarantine. The decision was taken as per detection of positive cases or contacts or cases having travel history.”
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday gave a clear break-up of the occurrences and their locations in the capital city.
The break up as follows: Badagada – 1 case; Bharatpur – 1 case; Sahid Nagar – 1 case; Surya Nagar – 8 cases; Bomikhal – 14 cases; Kapilaprasad – 1 case; Satya Nagar – 4 cases; Unit V – 1 case; Mahisakhal BJB Nagar – 1 case; Madhusudhan Nagar – 1 case; and Jharpada – 1 case.
Earlier there was some confusion among the people in Satya Nagar and its adjoining areas following BMC’s order as a containment zone.
The health department and BMC came up with a map showing positive COVID-19 cases in Bhubaneswar with their location. The matter was clarified by the Municipal Commissioner in the evening. He addressed the media to clarify the matter. He said five areas have been declared as containment zones.
In Surya Nagar, there are around 2125 households and door-to-door surveillance is done to cover a minimum of 50 percent of the households every day.
Choudhury said the surveillance in Surya Nagar covered around 4000 households. Azad Nagar has a total of 430 households, Bomikhal has 2777, Satya Nagar 2500 and IB Colony has 107 where active surveillance is on, he added.
All the active coronavirus positive patients were shifted to COVID-19 Hospital and they are in isolation.
