Fisherman goes missing in Brahmani river in Deogarh, search underway


Deogarh: A fisherman went missing while four others had a narrow escape after a boat in which they were returning after catching fish in Brahmani river capsized due in heavy rain this evening.

The missing fisherman has been identified as Pattu Dhibara, a resident of Balirori village.

Reportedly, the fire service personnel have rescued one Dukhi Dhibara and a search operation is underway to trace the missing man.

According to reports, fiver fishermen had gone to the river near Rengali Dam reservoir to catch fish. They were headed back at around 4 pm, heavy rain and gusty wind lashed the area and the boat capsized near Baliroi under Barkote block.

While three of them managed to swim ashore after the strong winds stopped, Pattu and Dukhi failed to make it to the shore.

On intimation, fire department personnel reached the spot and managed to rescue Dukhi from the water body. However, the search team failed to trace Pattu. The rescue operation was underway till the last report came in.
