First session of 16th Odisha Assembly begins


Bhubaneswar: The first session of 16th Odisha Assembly began today with the customary address to the House by Governor Ganeshi Lal.

The session started at 11 am with the address of the Governor. On his arrival, the Governor was accorded guard of honour.

In his address, on the opening day of the first session of 16th Odisha Assembly, Governor Ganeshi Lal congratulated the new government for its fifth consecutive term and also praised for successfully tackling Cyclone FANI.

Besides, the Odisha Governor also informed that the State government has hiked medical assistance of Rs 7 lakh to Rs 10 lakh under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) for women.

The election for Deputy Speaker will be held on 27th of this month and the budget will be presented on the next day.

This session will have two phases and 30 working days. The first phase will continue till 2nd July and the second phase will begin from 12th July and will end on the 8th of August.

A three-layer security arrangement has been made in and around the Assembly in view of the session.
