Berhampur: Police have arrested Laxminarayan Sahu alias Chhota Mouj, who is accused of firing upon former BeMC Mayor Shiv Shankar Das in 2018.
The arrested accused, Chhota Mouj, belongs to Nehru Nagar here. He was in Mumbai but had returned to home some months ago, said Goshaninuagaon police and added that he had fired upon the ex-Mayor and went into hiding for a couple of years.
Worthwhile to mention that the accused along with his associates had fired upon Das, former Mayor of Berhampur Municipal Corporation, while the latter was returning home. Though Das was not injured in the incident, he had lodged an FIR with the police station in this regard. Since then the police are trying to nab him.
Sources said Berhampur SP had opened the old file to nab the criminal who was on the run for years after committing the crime.
