A major fire erupted in the AC coaches of Korba-Visakhapatnam Express at Visakhapatnam railway station on platform number four on Sunday.
The B6, B7, and M1 AC coaches were completely gutted in the blaze. Fortunately, there were no passengers present in the affected coaches.
Firefighters were quickly deployed to tackle the blaze. So far, there have been no reports of casualties or property damage, but the situation is under ongoing evaluation.
Officials acted swiftly to evacuate passengers, as the blaze gutted three coaches.
According to Railways, the smoke emitted from an empty coach of a standing train rake at Visakhapatnam Station at around 10 am today. Railway on-duty staff doused the smoke immediately. No other coaches were affected. The Train arrived at Visakhapatnam Station at 6.30 am and the empty rake was in locked condition when the fire took place.
