Meerut: A major fire broke out in the engine and two compartments of a passenger train at Daurala railway station near Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut on Saturday. The train numbered 04460 was going from Saharanpur to Delhi.

Passengers were seen pushing the train in a bid to separate the rest of the compartments from the engine and two compartments on which the fire broke out.

The Divisional Railway Manager, Dimpy Garg on Saturday informed that the preliminary investigation suggests the fire in the Saharanpur-Delhi passenger train started with a spark in the fourth coach of the train, however, the exact reason is yet to be known.

Meanwhile, passengers who were on board the train were sent to their destination in the next mail train.
