Malkngiri: A father-son duo was arrested for allegedly transferring money from the savings account of a man at MV-90 village under Kalimela police station limits in Malkangiri district.

The arrestees have been identified as Anup Saha and his father Amal Saha.

Reportedly, Ramesh Kanti, son of Parbati Bai and Kanti Pulaya, was killed in a land mine explosion at neighbouring state, Chhattisgarh in 2020. Following this, the couple got insurance money from the Chhattisgarh government.

After knowing about this, Amal very cunningly lured them and transferred Rs 35,000 to his account on April 30, 2021, from Kanti’s account.

Later, once again Amal transferred Rs 40,000 on May 8. Similarly, again he took Rs 8 lakhs from Kanti’s savings account.

Later, Kanti asked Amal to return his money. However, Amal refused to return his money. With no option left, Kanti lodged a complaint with the local police station in this regard.

On the basis of the FIR, police arrested the father-son duo and forwarded them to court.
