Farmers in panic after wild elephants attack cattle

Athgarh: Fear gripped people of Gaudajhari village under Athgarh forest range after a herd of wild elephants attacked cattle here.

According to information, the pachyderm herd entered the human habitat and charged on the domesticated buffaloes.

Seeing the commotion, the cattle started bellowing. Though the villagers heard the agonized cries of the cattle and the wild trumpeting of the pachyderms, they remained indoors as they could not venture due to the big number of the herd.

On being informed, forest department officials reached the spot and assured to provide the cattle owner, Premalata Behera, compensation.
