Fake notes kingpin nabbed in Angul


Angul: Continuing its crackdown on fake denomination business, police on Friday arrested the kingpin of a fake note racket in Angul. With this, the number of arrests regarding the case increased to three, officials informed yesterday.

The arrested has been identified as Brajamohan Sahu.

Earlier on April 9, fake notes with a face value of Rs 3.52 lakh was seized from a vehicle.  Later that day cops also had detained two persons, identified as Padan Mallick and Sangram Keshari Panda.

Based on the information collected during the interrogated, officials nabbed Sahu yesterday.

Five mobile phones and a country-made gun have been seized from the possession of the accused.

While cops are trying to ascertain the source of the fake notes, it is suspected that the seized notes have a connection with illegal cash flow ahead of the elections, sources in the police said.
