Deogarh: Police on Friday arrested a fake doctor treating tribal people at Tipersinga village under Adarsha Police station in the district.
The fake doctor identified as Arnab Mondal belongs to Nadia district of West Bengal. He had been treating tribal patients at his private clinic opened illegally at the village. Surgical materials and medicines worth Rs 3 lakh have been seized from his possession, police said.
He also conducted surgery and abortions of the local people, police said.
Acting on a tip -off, a team of police from the Asarsha police station carried out raid at the illegal clinic of the fake doctor and seized medicines of different brands and surgical materials. Police arrested him after he failed to show any valid medical certificate and license.
Mondal, on the other hand, said he only prescribes medicine for cold, cough and viral fever.
Earlier on Wednesday, police had arrested another fake doctor whose educational qualification is only class X in the same area.
