Moscow: As many as 79 persons received injuries in an explosion that broke out at a bomb-making plant in the Russian city of Dzerzhinsk on Saturday.
According to sources, the blast took place at the Kristall explosives factory in Dzerzhinsk, 250 miles (400km) east of Moscow.
Officials said the factory was used to make and store bombs and other explosive devices for the Russian military. The facility, JSC Kristall Research Institute, was completely devastated by the blast.
While 79 persons were injured, windows in about 180 residential buildings broke near the plant.
An investigation into the matter is underway. The cause of the blast has not been determined yet, officials said.
