Bhubaneswar: The fourth phase of COVID-19 fight is the fight between life and livelihood, Chief Spokesperson on COVID-19, Subroto Bagchi said. This phase is crucial as far fight with coronavirus is concerned, he added.
The foreign returnees were a challenge in the first phase while Nizamuddin returnees and migrant returnees were major cause of concern in second and third phase, the chief spokesperson said and added that in the fourth phase, over five lakh migrants have returned to the state so far.
He said in the coming fortnight more people might get infected from the virus. The monsoon is expected to bring in cold and flu to the atmosphere. It is highly required to abide by the guidelines and stay indoors by taking proper precautions, he added.
The government was the main crusader in the first three phases of the fight against COVID-19 in the state. In the fourth phase, every individual will be a fighter, he added.
Bagchi said Odisha has reported highest single day increase of 173 new Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours. This has taken the total number to 2781 in the state, he added.
The state government has already announced two-day shutdown in 11 districts on Saturdays and Sundays till June end.
These districts are Ganjam, Puri, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Balangir.
