EOW Nabs Real Estate Firm MD In Land Fraud Case
Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha Crime Branch arrested the managing director of a real estate firm in connection with a land fraud case.
The accused has been identified as Pradeep Kumar Mishra (49), of Badagada Canal Road in Bhubaneswar and managing director of M/s Sampad Builders Pvt. Ltd. The accused has been forwarded to the Court of SDJM, Bhubaneswar.
According to the press note, a case was registered on the written report of Abanikant Mohanty, OAS-I (JB), Executive Officer, Lord Lingaraj Temple Office in Bhubaneswar in the matter related to grabbing of land of Lord Lingaraj on the basis of forged documents.
Investigation revealed that Khata No.354, Plot No.543, area At 1.178 dec and Khata No.358, Plot No 561, area at 0.819 of mauza Basuaghai under Bhubaneswar Tehsil was recorded in the name of Lord Lingaraj by Brundaban Mahapatra and Durga Charon Mahapatra, who had died since long.
Kedarnath Mahapatra, adopted son of late Durga Charan Mahapatra executed two General Power of Attorneys in 2002 and 2004 for selling the aforementioned properties in favour of Pradeep Kumar Mishra, illegally, since he had no power to transfer the said properties.
Later, Pradeep Kumar Mishra sold the land to seven customers without divulging the fact, in connivance with Kedarnath.
Earlier, Kedarnath Mahapatra was arrested on April 7 this year in Lingaraj PS case No.13/12.01.2018 and forwarded to the Court of SDJM, Bhubaneswar. Lingaraj PS Case No.13/18 has since been tagged in this case of EOW. The investigation of the case is in progress, the press note further stated.
