J&K: Two Army personnel sustained injuries following an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday afternoon. The clash ensued after gunshots rang out in the Kokernag village of Anantnag, leading to intensified searches and an exchange of fire.
According to reports, two to three terrorists may be cornered. A senior police official informed that the exchange of fire occurred during a cordon and search operation. The Indian Army, J&K Police, and CRPF are actively engaged.
Following credible intelligence about militant presence, a joint team initiated a cordon and search operation in Ahlan. As they neared the target area, militants concealed there began shooting at the team, triggering an encounter.
Earlier on Tuesday, security forces engaged with terrorists in Udhampur district’s Basantgarh area. The confrontation began when forces located a group of terrorists hiding in the elevated Pathi Nalla Khanerd region of Basantgarh, trapping them in the forest.
Last month, an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district resulted in the deaths of four Indian Army soldiers, including an officer, during a battle with terrorists.
