Eminent Environmentalist & Padma Shri Prof Radha Mohan No More

Bhubaneswar: Former Information Commissioner of Odisha and retired economics professor Padma Shri Radha Mohan passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital here.

He was 78.

Reportedly, Prof Mohan was ailing since last few months. He was undergoing treatment in ICU of the private hospital for last few days. He was being treated for pneumonia, hospital sources said.

Born on January 30, 1943, at Rangani Patna village in the ex-princely state of Nayagarh, Radhamohan had completed his schooling in Odgaon and had graduated with Honours in Economics from the SCS College, Puri. He did his Master’s degree in Applied Economics from Utkal University in the year 1965.

He retired as Principal of SCS College in Puri before joining as the State Information Commissioner.

Radha Mohan and his daughter Sabarmatee, a conservationist, were conferred with Padma Shri last year for efforts to transform a barren land into a lush food forest in Nayagarh.
