Elephant Herd Trapped In Mahanadi River Bed

Banki: An elephant herd is reportedly trapped on an alluvial plain in the middle of the Mahanadi river near Kainmundi village under Banki block.

According to sources, the elephant herd which had headed towards Sukasan forest was returning to Damapada Chandaka forest when they got stuck on the river bed near Kainmundi village.

Following reports, Bhagipur forest personnel rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.

While the forest personnel are constantly monitoring the movement of the elephants, they said the elephant herd might start moving after evening. On the other hand, the resident of Kainmundi village are in a state of panic.
