Elephant herd in Karanjia continues to wreak havoc
Mayurbhanj: With no respite in sight from the incidents of elephant incursion in the State, the 22-membered elephant herd continued to wreak havoc in villages under Karanjia Forest Range of Mayurbhanj district.
As per the latest reports, the elephant herd which was moving towards human habitation in search of food pulled down two houses in Panashi village under Sukuli block.
The pachyderm herd is currently spotted at Dharmabeda forest.
Earlier, the elephant herd went on a rampage damaging rooms and walls of a school in Rautalipata area.
The movement of elephants is being constantly monitored and necessary steps to deal with the elephant menace are being taken, the forest officials said.
The jumbo herd is not relenting despite the efforts of forest officials to drive away the elephants from human settlement, sources said.
