Pune: Principal health secretary of Maharashtra Dr Pradeep Kumar Vyas has asked Collectors to increase testing to bring down Covid positivity rate to 10 per cent.
The state yesterday recorded 4,787 fresh infections with 40 deaths. The Mumbai circle recorded 1,237 fresh infections followed by the Pune circle at 1,013 and the Akola circle at 1,041 fresh cases.
Dr Vyas said the Nagpur circle has shown 662 fresh infections, of which 453 are from the civic body limits.
The timeline has been set by the central government and officials to complete a mop-up round by February 25. Dr D N Patil, Maharashtra vaccination officer, said nearly 54% of healthcare workers were vaccinated.
A total of 7.77 lakh recipients have been provided with Covid vaccine across Maharashtra so far. Of this, 5.75 lakh are healthcare staff. The second dose of vaccine has been provided to a total of 16,181 healthcare staff.
