Educational institutes across Odisha to remain shut for cyclone ‘FANI’


Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has declared holiday for all educational institutions in the state from today in view of cyclone ‘FANI’, informed Special Relief Commissioner.

Through a notice issued to all Universities and Colleges under the administrative control of the Higher Education Department, the government has declared holiday with the postponement of the examinations scheduled to be held on May 2, 3 and 4.

The government has cancelled the examination scheduled for May 2, 3 and 4 in Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Khurda, Nayagrah, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Balasore, and Mayurbhanj districts, said Odisha SRC Bishnupada Sethi.

The Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) has postponed its examinations scheduled for May 2, 3 and 4. The examinations scheduled for May 2 will now be held on May 25. Similarly, the examinations scheduled for May 2 and 4 will be held on May 27 and 28, respectively, according to information.

Similarly, all the examinations under Utkal University scheduled to be held on May  2, 3 and 4 have been postponed. Moreover, the varsity students have been asked to vacate the hostels by 10 am today.
