Bhubaneswar: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached assets to the tune of Rs 29.83 lakh, belonging to former Indian Forest Service officer Abhay Kant Pathak.
The ED today informed that the action was taken against the ex-IFS officer ‘under PMLA for possessing assets disproportionate to his known source of income.’
“During the course of an investigation under PMLA, it was revealed that Abhay Kant Pathak has invested his allegedly ill-gotten income, which is over and above his known sources of income, in acquiring various immovable properties and in bank investments in his name and in the name of his family members,” the ED said in a release.
The former IFS officer of Odisha cadre, Pathak was the Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF), Plan, Programme and Afforestation, with the State Government.
Reportedly, Pathak and his son Akash were arrested by the State Vigilance on November 27, 2020, in connection with a DA case. In May 2021, he was compulsorily retired from service after the Centre approved the State Government’s recommendations.
