E-Ticketing Fraud: RPF Nabs Fake Travel Agent In Bhubaneswar


Bhubaneswar: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Saturday arrested a fake travel agent in Bhubaneswar on charges of using individual IRCTC accounts for selling e-tickets.

Acting on reliable inputs, Bhubaneswar RPF personnel apprehended one Bishnu Prasad Patnaik of Pattanaikia near Delang in Puri district and traced around 40 IRCTC accounts in his name. He has sold over 600 e-tickets from these fake accounts.

As per a preliminary probe, the accused was charging Rs 100 to Rs 200 extra from his customers for e-tickets and was operating his business since 2016, the RPF informed adding that it is a strict violation of the Railway Act.

“Further investigation is underway to ascertain other details and involvement of others if any,” said RPF IIC K Sethi.
