DSP Held For Taking Rs 30000 Bribe

Dhenkanal: Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday arrested DSP of Dhenkanal Sadar police station on charges of demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 30,000 from a person to facilitate his transportation business.

The accused officer has been identified as Abhinav Dalua.

According to reports, Dalua had demanded Rs 30,000 from the victim, a coal transporter. Further, the officer had also threatened the victim to not allow his coal transportation if bribe was not paid. Following this, the victim lodged a complaint with the anti-corruption wing.

Based on the complaint, the officials today laid a trap and nabbed the officer while accepting the gratification.

In this connection, Case No.6 dated 29.08.2022 u/s 7 P.C Amendment Act,2018 has been registered and searches are being conducted at several locations including plot no 32/34, Ramchandrapur, Jatni in Khurda, four places in Dhenkanal, paternal house of Dalua at Meghadambaru, Balasore, in-laws house at Jharbeda, Turumunga in Keonjhar, and native place at Narasinghpur in Cuttack district.

A total of eight teams comprising 1 Addl SP, 9 DSPs, 8 Inspectors and other staff are reportedly conducting the searches.
