Kalimela: Police on Monday arrested a man for hacking his wife to death at MV-72 village under Kalimela police station in Malkangiri district on Sunday night.
Police sources said accused Bimal Mistry, who was heavily drunk, killed his wife Dulali with an axe in front of his seven-year-old daughter. Dulali’s neck and ear bore deep cut marks following brutal hacking by her drunken husband.
Reports said after brutally hacking his wife Bimal stayed inside the room with the sharp weapon till he was arrested by the police next morning. His minor daughter spent the whole night at the corner of the room with horror. As the day broke, she started shouting following which locals gathered in the room to find out the gory incident.
Reportedly, the police have seized the body of Dulali and arrested her husband. A case has been registered and a probe is underway in the regard, sources added.
