“Dream Flight” for divyang children takes off from BPIA


Biju Patnaik International Airport: The 43 specially-abled children from Odisha finally got their chance to fly aboard a special flight from Bhubaneswar today.

As per reports, the flight took off from Biju Patnaik International Airport. The joy-ride hosted divyang children including 21 girls and 23 boys hailing from urban poor localities of Bhubaneswar.

Prior to the take-off of the flight, an art exhibition ‘MY DREAM FLIGHT’ and performance by children was also organised at the BPI Airport.

State minister Ashok Panda, Union Civil Aviation Joint Secretary Usha Padhee, social activist Sruti Mohapatra, other officials and Ollywood stars were present to see off the children.

This initiative is a joint effort of AAI, Civil Aviation Ministry, Air India, Alliance Air, Odisha Govt, Dr. Sruti Mohapatra of Bhubaneswar-based NGO ‘Swabhiman’ and Joint Secretary of Civil Aviation Ministry, Usha Padhee.

While AAI officials waved all charges, Odisha Government too extended full support to the cause.
