Don’t Share OTP With Stranger For 5G Upgradation; It Could Be A Fraud, Warns Police

Bhubaneswar: In view of rising incidents of cyber fraud in the State, Odisha police on Wednesday cautioned the citizens against sharing OTP with any strangers.

Now-a-day, fraudsters have chalked out new strategies to dupe gullible people over 5G upgradation, police said.

“Do not share your OTP with a stranger or any person for a verification code for 5G upgradation. It could be a fraud,” Odisha police tweeted.

If a person posing himself/herself as an employee of telecome department asked for OTP for 5G upgradation, you should consider the call as a new tactics of cyber fraud. Instead of giving the OTP, you should immediately inform police, the tweet further added.

People of all ages fall prey to the cyber fraud due to the current digital payment system. Police had also earlier advised people to remain cautious while transacting online.

Police had also issued advisories in this regard from time to time.
