New York: Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh who made his debut on ‘The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon’, became the first Indian artist to perform at the show.
Introduced by Fallon as “the biggest Punjabi artist on the planet,” Dosanjh performed his hit tracks “G.O.A.T” and “Born To Shine,” dancing and owning the stage with his band.
Dressed in traditional Punjabi attire, complete with a matching white turban and a pleated fan, Dosanjh put on a vibrant performance and paused for a moment when he sang “Main hoon Punjab” from his recent film Amar Singh Chamkila.
The Tonight Show’s official Instagram account shared a video of Diljit Dosanjh teaching Fallon some Punjabi phrases. Fallon’s attempt at Dosanjh’s iconic catchphrase “Punjabi Aa Gaye Oye” resulted in laughter, but he won over the singer with a smooth delivery of the greeting “Sat Sri Akal.”
Fallon congratulated Diljit and asked him to come back. He also mentioned that everyone was dancing and that it couldn’t have gone better.
After his performance, Fallon met Diljit backstage and hugged him. He said, “You crushed it. It couldn’t have gone better. It was fantastic. It was electric. Love it. Everyone was dancing. That was phenomenal, couldn’t have gone better. Please come back.”
Diljit Dosanjh performed his chartbuster songs, ‘Born To Shine’, and ‘G.O.A.T’ as he appeared on the show. He also sang the line ‘Mein hu Punjab’ from his recently released film, ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’. Fallon then asked the audience to catch him on his ‘Dil-Lunimati’ music tour across North America.
