Diarrhoea outbreak in Jharsuguda village; one dead, 30 taken ill


Jharsuguda: A 50-year-old person died while 30 others have been taken ill due to diarrhoea outbreak at Kuhakunda village at Kanaktora Panchayat under Lakhanpur block in Jharsuguda district.

According to reports, 15 affected person are undergoing treatment at Lakhanpur Community Health Centre while the others are undergoing treatment at Raigarh hospital in Chhattisgarh. One Bahaldi Barik (50) died today while undergoing treatment at Raigarh hospital in the neighbouring state.

Sources said, the outbreak of diarrhoea took place around 10 days ago and started spreading rapidly after October 25.

While some have opted for treatment at the neighbouring state’s hospital near Odisha border, a four-member team of the Odisha health department have started creating awareness in the affected zone apart from taking preventive measures to contain the outbreak, it was learnt.

It may be mentioned here that prior to this, diarrhoea outbreak was reported from Badimala Panchayat in this district.
